Why I’m Shifting My Focus to Wildlife Photography
For the past few years, I’ve explored Utah’s lakes and reservoirs with a lens shaped by light, reflection, and stillness.
At first, my work focused on the landscapes themselves — the way mountains mirrored over the water, the colors of sky changing hour by hour. But quietly, something else began to emerge.
Birds.
They appeared in the corners of my compositions. Then at the center. Then they began to guide where I went, when I shot, and how I waited.
What started as background became the heartbeat of my project.
I didn’t set out to become a wildlife photographer — I simply followed what moved me. And over time, I began to notice the subtle power in each animal encounter: the way an Avocet lifts its leg like a dancer at golden hour, or how a Bald Eagle watches the lake like a guardian. These moments aren’t just images. They’re invitations.
Invitations to slow down, to witness, to feel part of something quieter and wilder than ourselves.
That’s why I’m shifting. I’m leaning into the presence of wildlife — not as subjects, but as partners in storytelling.
In 2022, I began documenting these wild lives with more intention. In 2025, I’ve started offering my first metal print collection entirely focused on wildlife. These aren’t limited editions. They’re open stories — ones I hope you’ll connect with and bring into your space.
If you’ve ever felt wonder in the company of birds or calm watching animals near water, then you already understand why I’m on this path.
Thank you for following this journey. I can’t wait to share what’s next.
